A professionally qualified celebrant, and Life Member of CANZ, I create ceremonies for people marking a significant milestone – “Hatches, Matches and Dispatches” and anything else in between! I am deeply involved in many aspects of celebrancy, not only as a practising celebrant, but also as the Director of The Celebrant School – Te Wānanga Korowai Aroha and Past President of the Celebrants’ Association of New Zealand.
I’ve been privileged to work with couples, families, organisations and individuals on all sorts of special celebrations, from flamboyant, public events, to quieter, private occasions. I am Auckland-based, but frequently work in other places. If you are getting married, I will happily travel to your wedding venue for your rehearsal, because walking through all the logistics helps ease any nerves you may have. I enjoy helping couples create unique and personal ceremonies, honouring both them and their respective histories and cultures – using a process which they appreciate for the richness it brings to the ceremony. For those who want a more functional ceremony, such as used to occur at a Registry Office, I am able to offer a standard legal ceremony but with more style – please phone me to discuss how this works before you apply for your marriage/civil union licence. Children’s ceremonies – namings and thanksgivings; entering or exiting adolescence and other achievements are all opportunities that I enjoy helping families to celebrate. I bring heart and creativity to Decade birthdays for any age! I also facilitate funerals, memorials and associated rituals – during the Covid lockdowns, through The Celebrant School, we were able to illustrate how central a celebrant is in helping people to honour a loved one, sometimes in unique and original ways. Organisations also pass milestones that deserve to be honoured, but this is one area where (unusually) New Zealand has lagged behind other countries. I recently led an organisational memorial across 7 countries and multiple time zones to honour a long-time employee. I’ll help bring focus, intention and energy to any celebration, hence my by-line …. Marking milestones with meaning!
When choosing your celebrant, by far the most important criterion is finding someone you ‘click’ with. An initial, no-obligation chat with me will help you to quickly assess whether I am the celebrant for you. I can also recommend other qualified celebrants all around the motu, so call me now on 021 681 958 or email kathrine@lifecelebrations.co.nz.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
Arohanui.
