Jann Hook

Kia Ora, I am Jann Hook from the Marlborough region. I feel privileged to be able to offer my services as an innovative, creative, and vibrant Marriage and  Funeral Celebrant. I am a registered member of The Celebrants Association of New Zealand and attained the VCANZ status (Validation of a CANZ Member). This enables me to officiate at Registry Weddings by the Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages. In 2020 I  completed my  Diploma in Celebrancy with the Celebrants Training College. 

Along with my husband Trevor, I live and work at Te Mahia Bay Resort in the Kenepuru Sound, Marlborough. I love creating ceremonies here at the resort and throughout our Marlborough region. Each ceremony is as diverse as the couple involved. I love this challenge and relish working with clients in creating their bespoke wedding day service just as they dreamed it would be. Every ceremony I create is unique to the client, whether it be a 1st-time marriage, a re-commitment, a naming ceremony, or 2nd time around  wedding. 

My other passionate celebrant role is that of a Funeral Celebrant. I endeavor to undertake these services with compassion, empathy, strength, and dedication.  I am also trained as an End of Life Doula, and an advocate for Assisted Dying in NZ.

Jann was our celebrant for our intimate wedding in the Marlborough Sounds. We first engaged with Jann online and met via zoom. There, we were introduced to her wealth of knowledge on all things ceremonies! This helped us immensely, to plan and personalize our event making it the best it could be. I really appreciated Jann’s input, providing lots of advice and options, while also listening to what we wanted and ensuring she could meld into our style – right down to asking about colours to wear! Loved that! Jann met us when we arrived in the sounds, and the communication in the lead-up was seamless.

 On the day, it was like having another member of the family there, which, as a small event, meant a lot – Jann eased our nerves, and reminded us how precious every moment of this day would be – and it was!
