Sarah Charteris

My name is Sarah Charteris and I live in Gisborne with my husband, two daughters and son. I have been an independent celebrant since 2015 and have a certificate in celebrant studies. Becoming a Marriage and Civil Union Celebrant became a goal of mine as it combined several of my passions; creative writing, meeting new people and an appreciation for a beautiful love story. I consider it a privilege to be part of a couple’s “special” day. My role is to make your journey to the alter a stress-free one with the resulting ceremony being something that is unique and personal to you as a couple, as well as a comfortable experience. I pride myself on being efficient, discreet and professional as well as warm, friendly and accepting. I also have a background in public speaking and written journalism, which I find extremely helpful in the development and delivery of ceremonies. To date I have taken ceremonies in Gisborne, Wairoa and Hawke’s Bay and these are the areas I am passionate about serving. Becoming a celebrant not only fulfilled a passion of mine but I feel that as a woman in my 30s I am helping to fill a gap when it comes to celebrant services throughout Gisborne, Wairoa and the East Coast.
