Julia Mitchell

I became a celebrant in 2019 and performed my first wedding ceremony for my nephew and gorgeous husband to be. It was a very special occasion and I had a feeling of great honour and privilege to be standing there with them both.  Although I have performed weddings in Wanaka, Bay of Plenty and Russell, I prefer to stay local, in and around the Matakana area.  I have recently become a VCANZ member and am now officially able to perform Registry Ceremonies and offer my beautiful garden to couples requiring this service on weekdays only.  I am also happy to travel up to 10km to a venue of your choice.

I was born in the UK, married a Kiwi and after our three children were born, we decided to move back to NZ where we’ve lived since 2000 and NZ is now most definitely my ‘home’.

I run a busy accommodation business and have an active role in our local theatre group where I act and direct. I am a fun loving, relaxed and confident person who loves being around people. I trained as a medical secretary and worked in London hospitals for some years before retraining to become a chef. Both these professions work closely with other people, requiring patience, good listening and organisation skills and professionalism.

Now that the family is grown and recently married, my husband and I made the move to Matakana and for the last 5 years I have enjoyed a beautiful country life which offers a great sense of community. 

I love gardening, theatre acting, cooking, travel and of course our beautiful wheaten terrier, Rosie.
