Juping Zhou

Wellington

Since 1995, I have had the pleasure of living, studying, and working in the vibrant city of Wellington. Over the years, I have grown deeply involved with the local community, especially the Chinese community. This engagement has made me acutely aware of the need for a marriage and civil union celebrant who can cater specifically to this community.

My journey into community service began when I was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in September 2005. The following year, I started volunteering at the Citizens Advice Bureau, where I found myself serving many Chinese clients. A lof of my work was conducted in Chinese, a reflection of the community’s needs. Through these interactions, I was frequently asked if I could officiate weddings in Chinese, as many families, including parents, grandparents, and extended relatives from overseas, are involved in weddings and often face language barriers with English.

Recognizing this significant need, I completed the “Marriage Celebrancy and the Law” training. I am keen to take on the responsibilities of a celebrant. I am excited to offer my services to the Chinese community in Wellington Region, providing a meaningful and culturally sensitive experience for couples and their families. By bridging this service gap, I aim to make weddings a truly inclusive and joyous occasion for all involved.
