Tau Huirama

Wellington

Travels outside their area

My name is Tau Huirama, I’m a Mâori elder from Waikato Tainui and have been a wedding and funeral celebrant for 35 years. I’m based at Mana, near Porirua.

I’m a father, grandfather and great-grandfather and my mokopuna and whanau are the centre of my life. I am a wairua (spiritual) healer, an author and indigenous story teller and cultural advisor for several national government and community organisations.

The depth and diversity of my life and work experience helps me walk sensitively alongside couples, their families and friends as they design their wedding ceremony. It’s a privilege to help couples prepare, or renew, their vows and to create a ceremony that truly reflects their wishes and uniqueness.

I’m also a funeral celebrant. Listening carefully to the wishes of family and whanau, I help with the planning and facilitation of their chosen ceremony, gently supporting everyone involved.

Couples, families and whanau whose ceremonies I have facilitated, tell me they appreciate my wisdom and experience and the respectful, inclusive way I work with everyone involved. Your ceremony is yours. My role is to help you create experiences and memories you will treasure.
