Waikato born and bred, my husband and I moved south to Taumarunui in 2017, where we created and now operate Omaka Lodge, a boutique bed & breakfast set within our 5-Star Garden of National Significance.

Because of the nature of our property and gardens, we began receiving enquiries about weddings, so we gained resource consent to hold weddings and other functions.  We specialise in intimate, boutique weddings of 10 people or less.

I hadn’t ever considered becoming a celebrant until one of our prospective wedding couples suggested it.  They felt it would be a natural fit with our other offerings, and with my personality.  The idea had never crossed my mind, so I asked family and friends what they thought, and received some very strong encouragement!

As the host of a beautiful B&B, my focus has always been on ensuring our guests have a stay that is genuinely special, and that is an ethos I wanted to bring to my celebrancy as well.

Since becoming a celebrant, I’ve conducted more than a dozen weddings, and I absolutely love creating and delivering personalised ceremonies that reflect each couple, their relationship and what makes them unique.

I’ve developed my own style as a celebrant, bringing a blend of cheerfulness, positivity and good humour to the ceremonies I conduct.  My aim is to create something that feels warm, relaxed and personal, while still giving the occasion the significance it deserves.
