VCANZ is the professional validation pathway for Celebrants Aotearoa members. It recognises your experience, your commitment to professional development, and your dedication to delivering ceremonies of the highest standard.
What is VCANZ?
VCANZ was established by Celebrants Aotearoa at the request of members to support and recognise ongoing personal and professional development. It gives celebrants a way to demonstrate their experience and commitment to ongoing professional development, and to the provision of services of the highest possible standard.
Participation in VCANZ is voluntary. Once achieved, VCANZ status is valid for four years.
What VCANZ means for you
Use the letters
Carry the VCANZ letters after your name and use the VCANZ badge on your marketing materials.
Registry ceremonies
Only VCANZ members can apply to officiate registry weddings on behalf of the Department of Internal Affairs.

VCANZ is a mark of professional credibility that clients and vendors are increasingly recognising and seeking out.
How to achieve VCANZ
To be eligible for VCANZ you must be a current financial member of Celebrants Aotearoa and fulfil various criteria.
From there the process involves:
- Opting in to VCANZ by starting an application in your profile
- Documenting reflections on five ceremonies you have created and led
- Recording your professional development experiences
- Completing an online test on the CANZ Code of Ethics and Professional Standards
- Paying the $200 fee and submitting your application to the Validation Board
Once all requirements are met and your application is accepted, VCANZ status is awarded for four years. Celebrants Aotearoa hosts bi-monthly online VCANZ workshops for members who want to learn more about the process before applying.
