In January 2023, on a wet, windy Saturday in Wellington, I had the absolute pleasure of officiating my first wedding ceremony – for my son and now, daughter-in-law.  For all that the weather misbehaved, everything else went fabulously.  Their wedding was casual, relaxed and celebrated them both as individuals and as the couple they were becoming.  It was warm, inclusive and filled with love and laughter.  I love this style of wedding ceremony – it was real and authentic.  

I have attended two courses with the Celebrants Training College – “Marriage Celebrancy and the Law” and “Excellent Ceremonies and Business” and I am a registered independent celebrant.

Being a marriage celebrant is a lot of fun, but for me, it has to fit around my primary work, which is managing a professional membership association.  So, I focus on elopments, minimonies and micro-weddings – ceremonies that are shorter timewise, yet still personal and intimate.
