Hi there,

I am an Independent Funeral Celebrant primarily working with communities within the region of Hawke’s Bay. I enjoy working with some of the most dedicated Funeral Directors in the Bay. Additionally, I like leading Baby Naming Ceremonies.

My strengths are in working with families to conduct personalised and sincere ceremonies. I also support those left behind when someone dies, recognising that some people need the gift of “time”.

I specialise in working with parents who have lost babies and children – children of all ages, including adults.

Honouring people in both life and death is my passion.

Death constantly teaches me about life and how to care for those now facing mourning duties.

It is a privilege to lead families at such a crucial time.

I provide families with a service that honours, respects, and gives thanks for their loved ones. I specialise in listening to people and hearing what they are saying. Then together, we create a personal farewell time explicitly written for the deceased and those who have been close to them.

I always look for ways that help bring a sense of wholeness to those attending to assist with the essential tasks of mourning. One way to do this is to get to know your loved one through your eyes. A client told me one day after a funeral, “My mum would have loved to have known you” – my reply was sincere and truthful; “I have loved getting to know your mum through your eyes”.

I am also a public speaker on topics like ‘Top Tips for Times of Bereavement’ and ‘How to Write Your Life Story’. I also created and authored THE KIT, which helps families get through when someone dies.

‘Good Grief’ is the name of the radio show I host, and we have some fabulous guests in the studio.

I love meeting people and hearing their stories. My clients have said, ‘Rhonda has a therapeutic listening ear’ and ‘She hears what we are saying’.

As a daughter, sister, wife and mother, I understand how valuable relationships are and consider my family my top priority. I enjoy voluntary work, holidays, bushwalks, board games, swimming, biking and our mischievous giant dog called Bear.
